figure out if I am allowed to keep any sort of firearm in my Jersey City apartment. All my guns are upstate at my friend’s house in NY.

Yes, you can keep a legally purchased/inherited gun in your apartment in Jersey. Jersey makes buying a gun tough, but you can own one and keep it at home. For example, if you moved to Jersey you could bring your guns and it's only a suggestion to register them, not a requirement.

Can't buy ammo tho without a Jersey Firearms FOID, so bring your own.

One thing that lots of working folks don't think about is that you can have your 72 hour kit, bug out bag, even your in-the-car emergency kit, but if you don't have one with you at your desk at work, you might not have anything if you need it. And most folks spend a good chunk of the day, five days a week, at work. I park in a parking garage. If there were an earthquake, I might not be able to get to it.

I like that Staples is selling such items so that business people will think about having something at work with them.

WTF? That's nothing more than a first aid kit and a bunch of juice boxes.

Guav, there are plenty of lists out there for bug out bags. Mine is chock full of goodies like MREs, compasses, emergency blankets, chem lights, flash lights, radio, blankets, first aid kit, water, water purification kit, knives, multi-tool, etc, etc.. I could go on and on..

Oh yeah, and I might have one or more guns ready to grab as well.

I'm in the process of putting together a large preparedness pack in the event of of some natural disaster or terrorists attack that results in the breakdown of law here in the NYC metropolitan area.

I'm going to order gas masks for my wife and I, some vegetarian MRE's (I'd eat a deer if I had to, but right now I have the luxury of remaining vegetarian :), water, first aid supplies, etc.

I'm trying to figure out what else I should include, as well as trying to figure out if I am allowed to keep any sort of firearm in my Jersey City apartment. All my guns are upstate at my friend's house in NY.

I doubt my supplies would remain in our possession for very long without a means to defend them.

I live in Earthquake land, my wife and I each have a bugout bag packed and ready by the back door should we have to evacuate our home due to it being structurally unsound.

BTW, MOLLE gear is awesome for self made bugout bags, since you can buy detachable pouches and such. I have one pouch with my first aid kit, another with food, the main bag carries my water and clothes, another pouch has signaling equipment, another has ammo, etc...
