Law, what law?

You’ll recall that the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act passed in 2005 was to shield gun makers from frivolous lawsuits. Any way, for the second time that I know of, a court says it doesn’t meant what it says. Note: that is a Brady presser so it’s probably wrong about a lot of things.

This is pretty typical for the Gary area – all the crime and liberal politics of Chicago without the cool museums or sports teams.

  2. straightarrow Says:

May be. But it shouldn’t be typical of the Indiana Supreme Court who are expected to be able to read.

  3. straightarrow Says:

Well according SIH, we should just accept it. After all, judges are above the law. (not my position)

And we have no right to demand the law be obeyed. That’s just an opinion. (again, not my position)

I never said we should accept it, or that judges are above the law. I’m saying you can’t go around suggesting that judges should be prosecuted because someone doesn’t like how they are doing their jobs. Someone has to decide what the law means, and that’s always, and fundamentally, going to open up the possibility of bad calls. The way to deal with activist judges is not to put them on the bench in the first place. Elect judges who will uphold the law. Elect politicians who will appoint judges who will uphold the law. But arrest judges for making bad decisions? Think of where that will lead. Think of what kind of power the people that get to make those decisions will have.

You mean like the unbridled power to violate the law that those sitting justices took on for themselves? That kind of power?

If there are only two options, I have that kind of power or someone else has it, I’ll take it. I do mean take it.

It seems to me there is and ought to be another option. Nobody gets to wield that kind of power. There is a system in place to ensure it doesn’t happen. It should be put to use.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
