Jayne Lyn Stahl Update

Background here and here. Seems she’s getting tons of hate mail. Her email address disappeared from here last night so it’s not you guys. I suspect it’s from the NRA news alert. Some of the hate mail, which she insists on forwarding to me, is appalling. She says she’s received death threats though none of the ones she sent to me were threats but were vile nonetheless. Anyway, I think she gets it.

At the Atlantic, the grotesque image has disappeared and been replaced with an homage to the first amendment. Seems they think we’re advocating congress making it a law that you can’t say stupid shit. As opposed to what we did which was, you know, exercise our first amendment rights to say you said some stupid shit. Equating 4M NRA members with a murderer would upset them? Who knew?

And they state that the image was not from Stahl:

Furthermore, the image was not chosen and created by Stahl but rather the editorial team. Our publication is not USA-based and we reserve the right to print what we want (our laws protect Freedom of Speech as well) whether or not we fully agree with what has been published.

And there’s a screed on guns and hunting that’s not even worth reading because it devolves into hysteria about gulags and kleptocracy. And don’t bother commenting there. I’m told they’re deleting them.

I missed the image. Anyone have a screen grab of it? What was it? I tried reading the article, but it was a bunch of crap so I never finished it.

And personally, I’d like to pistol whip every asshole who sends such crap to authors they don’t agree with (this, for more sensitive readers is hyperbole – I do not wish true violence). They do more to hurt their position than they help. You should never email when you’re angry, nothing good comes of it and your opponent will only use that as “proof” your side is unhinged.

  2. thirdpower Says:

So they rant about the 1A while at the same time deleting comments. Typical “authorized journalists”.

  3. Jim Viggers Says:

For someone who savors his “anonymity” you sure as fuck are loose with people’s particulars when it suits you. You do know that if she received one death threat that was acted upon, you are liable? I read this blog a lot, but I don’t post because it’s usually right in line with what I think about the 2nd Amendment, but you violate your own rule (“Don’t scare white people”) when you do stuff like that and you need to broaden your “apology” beyond the half-assed attempt you offered.

  4. SayUncle Says:

Sorry, jim, but i tend to think the more vile comments she received were not coming from readers here since this was posted by many others. Her email address was up here for about four hours. And, as I said, i’ve seen none of the death threats personally.

And publishing an email address that was available at the various sites her piece was posted at because she put it there? Puhlease.

I made no attempt to apologize. And stuff like what? I didn’t threaten nor advocate anyone do so. I view it the same as calling out things in other outlets as well, which I do often.

Yeah, I took the first part apart, but there was too much stoopid for me to do the whole thing.

  6. Chas Says:

Markie Marxist sez: “Nice of her to bash the NRA, but sometimes our useful idiots are more idiotic than useful. We need our government police to have guns so they can confiscate the privately owned guns of the NRA, once we ban them, and shoot anyone who doesn’t comply.
I guess maybe she’s a little confused about whose side she’s on. “A” for effort there Jayne, but ya really need to get with the program. Our Marxist gun ban agenda requires government agents to have guns. When they mess up with them, you’re supposed to just look the other way, like the rest of the MSM.”

  7. Cactus Jack Says:

“Some of you who have written in claim that NRA members are law abiding, etc but others, at the same time, have made some pretty serious threats via email – which negates the other claims completely.”

So what makes the publisher think that the treats were written by NRA members? Oh I forgot, according to the Atlantic Free Press, we NRA members are equatable with murderers. Hell, her e-mail is available at several sites, any joe blow could’ve sent those e-mails.

And there’s people who hate Jayne? Gee, I wonder why….

  8. Sebastian Says:

Uncle isn’t liable for anything. He didn’t incite anyone to violence, and I think his readers and commenters are better people than that. There are a lot of assholes on the internet. What are you going to do?

  9. #9 Says:

I feel compassion for a person this unbalanced. If you had told me there was someone even more to the extreme left of Southern Beale or Sharon Cobb I would have thought that impossible. Check out Jayne Lyn Stahl at the Huffing Post. Seems that Ms. Stahl has some issues.

Is there something in the water in California? The world Ms. Stahl longs for is the world Orwell wrote about. And she is a poet. How very strange.

I hope we never live in the world this poor woman desires.

So I just went over to the Atlantic, and the grotesque image is back, along with their first amendment homage. Way to be classy Atlantic editorial team…

The only thing worse than the lowlives who write such articles are the assholes who publish them.

Did you notice Atlantic’s modification of the NRA logo? Responsible journalists my ass!

  15. #9 Says:

Question, who did the supposed death threats come from? Would these have come from “anonymous” email persons?

Is there any proof what so ever that these alleged “death threats” actually exist? Have copies been made with IP addresses? Has the FBI been contacted? Is there an investigation under way?

The reason I ask is that after reading the Atlantic Free Press I did not get the impression of any journalistic integrity. In fact, I got the impression that these people will do anything to forward their agenda.

Why should reasonable people believe what the Atlantic Free Press claims? I also have serious questions about the credibility of Jayne Lyn Stahl .

My point is this, if no proof exists of the charges made by the Atlantic Free Press or Jayne Lyn Stahl, should they not be investigated for making false claims?

My hope is that the NRA takes a very serious look at this.

  16. Robohobo Says:

Heh. I went over to the fetid fever swamp that is the “Atlantic Free Press”. I would bet that a small amount of digging will show them for the Marxists they seem to be at a casual reading. They are rabidly anti-American. One article called for the members of the Bush admin to be arrested and tired overseas, etc. America has and continues to commit genocide all over the world, etc. You get the drift.

They are unhinged lefties advocating the overthrow of the US gov’t. The principals appear to be self proclaimed expatriots so they are outside of the reach of US justice. Mheh! They are lowlifes.

  17. Robohobo Says:

    tired – tried

    sorry

So, she slanders 4 million people, then is surprised that there is some blowback? Sounds like a liberal all right.

    Ignorance is Blix.

“So, she slanders 4 million people, then is surprised that there is some blowback? Sounds like a liberal all right.”

Liberals seem to think that the 1stammendment is a license to insult people with impunity, that we’re suppossed to just take thir slander and smile just because they have the right to say what they think.

“But I have the right to say what I think!” Yes you do and we have the right to not like what you say about us. Plus, the 1st ammendment applies to EVERYONE, not just spineless libs. So if Jayne and her ilk dont like what WE say about them, tough shit, we have the right to say what we think too.

  21. Snowflakes in Hell » Blog Archive » Barrage of Death Threats? Says:

[…] mentioned that Jayne Lyn Stahl was getting some vile e-mail from pro-gun people. She suggested death treats too, though we never saw any of them. Neither, I would wager, did this […]

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
