From where I sit, 9/11 was one of the few mass murders in recent history that had damned near nothing to do with gun control, one way or the other. I suppose it made the case for arming the pilots, but that’s a relatively technical change to gun laws even raging anti-gun loons like Barbara Boxer can get behind. I don’t see this issue touching gun control more generally, unless Giuliani wants to arm the passengers, too.

9-11 did help me make up my mind about gun control – from very dubious about it to absolutely against. I remember thinking, “The gun control advocates are going to be beating their drums about this – before they know if the hijackers had guns, and even if it is confirmed that they didn’t.” And I was right…

But it changed my mind in September 2001. When did Guiliani change his? Wasn’t it when he started preparing to run for President?
