That’s not always true. I’ve got no problem hunting or preparing my own meat, but I think it’s worth apologizing to the animals. Just because it’s something we’re designed and supposed to do, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t recognize that it is killing.

I guess it’s a bit of a religious-esque thing, at that point, but I don’t see it as doing much harm. Having to clean the animal usually makes it clear enough what your weapon can do, but a little extra mental reminder even in the form of a ritual tends to help.

We are omnivores. Eating meat is part of being human, and killing is part of eating meat. Having someone else do all your killing for you is a bit of a copout. The honest meat eater will kill for him/her self once in a while and not apologize for it.

If you choose not to have proper nutrition and eat only vegetables (better hope there are no bacteria on them, ’cause you’ll be killing the poor little defenseless innocents) that’s just fine– Leave the rest of us more healthy, strong, and well-adjusted people alone.

You don’t see us trying to nag, brow-beat or intimidate you into eating meat, do you? Do as you like and leave me to do as I like. Then we can get along, but that’s not what you want, is it? You want power over other people.

Oh, and if you want to help “save” a species, get it put on the menu. That way, people all over will be raising them for sale. (you don’t see the chicken or the pheasant on the endangered species list, do you, even though we eat billions of them annually?)

On a broader note: Observe how the “animal rights” types are trying to get animals elevated ever closer to the status of humans, which is just another way of saying;

They are demoting humans (in their minds at least) ever closer to the status of animals, which is in fact the whole focus and purpose of the Left.

He’d just made disgusting remarks about the wife’s mink coat. I was in the process of showing him my (click) skinning knife.

They’re kinda small but will tan out like goatskin.

My response was simply “Recoil”. Then I just walked away as he fumed over that.

Here is blue state WA, they’re classified as ‘non-native destructive species’, which means you don’t need a hunting license or tag and you can kill as many as you want, whenever you want.

Maybe the Petards should have a chat with their Greenie Weenie friends to better understand this.
