Over at a new (to me) blog called Grappling with Guns:
I am a democrat.
I am also a gun owner and possessor of a concealed handgun permit in my state of residence.
I am also a college professor.
I am not (yet) a member of the NRA, but based on much of the current debate about gun control, I may join.

A liberal friend of mine was bemoaning the NRA one day, having full knowledge of my gun-nuttery status. He was trying to irritate me by criticising the NRA (which wasn’t working).
I calmly told him that I had quit the NRA. He asked me why and I told him, “I think they’re too Liberal”. His jaw hit the floor.
