I was commenting on this very phenomena the other day on the Pigtown Cleanup...where you see tons of realtor signs. I'm in sales myself...but it seems only realtors seem to think their smiling face helps sell what they're selling. Dorky, IMHO. Good looking as I am, I rather doubt it's my dapper suits and smiling mug that makes me good at selling. Empathy and the ability to listen to the consumer is what makes a good sales person, not a stupid grin on a billboard. Crikey! Its something abour real estate and mortgage brokers that they seem to think people knowing what they look like is a major reason for going with one person or the other. Look at the way they will hire professional cleaners to scrub a house down before an open house - or painters to put a fresh coat of paint on it before showing it - or carpenters to cover up any of the personalities a house has accumulated over the years. Of course, what I always find the most amusing is when you actually meet the realtor and discover her glamor shot was taken 35 years ago. Thats at least what the realtors think.
