Are we looking at the same site? Tradmarked stuff is there, Zumbo quotes have been scrubed. This MySpace page has been assimilated.

When I sent the e-mail, I was watching for a scrub attempt, wondering if maybe the Bradys had hired someone to do outreach to young people on MySpace, and they went kind of overboard, and they’d make the right phone calls and get the content altered. But that didn’t happen.

One thing to look out for in the next few weeks is whether the poster alters their name, logo, or puts up a statement that they don’t officially speak for the Bradys. If I were in the Brady Campaign, I’d certainly want to lean on MySpace a bit, and the blog owner, to try to get something like that added to avoid further damage to the message I was trying to sel. I wouldn’t want to shut it down, I mean, imagine the reaction if the NRA tried to shut down one of us? Plus, you’d think they’d be kind of happy just to have some real grass roots, even if it’s just one blade. But watch for an attempt to get the MySpace blog distanced from Brady. If it’s really not them, I think they’d want to.

If nothing changes, it’s possible they don’t really have a problem with the message being put out there, and I’ll leave it to folks to decide whether or not they are, in fact, somehow associated with the effort. But it’s also quite possible that, unlike our side, who has to deal with real grass roots, with lots of potential for people saying stupid things, the Bradys, who enjoy much more control over their message than we do, just really don’t know quite how to deal with this.

Which means, that both the MySpace page is pulling content from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership’s main page, and the Brady Bunch is letting them (note the xshare/myspace/ subdirectory)

If you look carefully, you will also note that every mention of Zumbo has been taken off the page, and there are backdated posts added to the blog.

I can only assume that the MySpace Brady page was a fake, but now it is somehow associated with them.

It’s also worth noting that The Bradys don’t want to discuss Zumbo, the NRA does not want to discuss Zumbo, except to state that they are not buying any more magazine articles from him, and I haven’t seen any other anti-freedom critter bring up his name either.

So if that’s how everyone is gonna roll with this, how much damage did he really do? I seem to think this has aired an issue that has long been needed to be hashed out. The NRA still doesn’t want to touch this.
