some v. actual sample

I’ve noticed this before too:

If a story says “some people” or “some parents” feel one way, but only quote one parent, the reporter’s only found one or two parents who are complaining.

Well, some people think that’s stupid.

    Just as often it means the author couldn’t find anybody that held the stated position so he engages in a journalistic fiction.
