I did miss it

I don’t read a lot of the lefty blogs so I did miss the alleged NRA graphic novel. Via Nylar:

In short: Wonkette posted jpeg scans from a digital copy sent in by an anonymous tipster. Elsewhere, some at Daily Kos and a popular gun law forum (and, for a while, me) expressed doubts over authenticity (c’mon, it was so far-out! lobsterrorists!). Then, Wonkette shared the original doc with BoingBoing (PDF link), a Wonkette commenter determined it appears to have been illustrated by Chris Gall, and everyone agreed — not a hoax (though we’re still awaiting response from the NRA). Here’s a link to the updated BoingBoing post with embedded blog-drama, and there are fresh posts at Wonkette (Link), Kos (Link) and the CA-CCW forum (Link). And below — readers say Adobe Reader reveals what are apparently hidden notes from the NRA assigner to the illustrator.

Having seen it, I’m calling bullshit. And it seems others concur. I’m gonna call some people.

Update: Others do not concur. I called bullshit earlier because one image I saw had some reference to killing minorities which I knew was total bullshit. But it seems that bullshit image was bullshit and did not come from the alleged novel. A direct link to it is here.

Update 2: If you post at wonkette the images with these bullshit captions, don’t be so surprised when someone thinks you’re full of shit. Images from it without all the crazy crap would have been more credible.

If you think the NRA has gotten all crazy, don’t get all crazy right back.

Just saying.

    *shakes head*.

Both sides; one screams some illogical, fecund chant and everyone picks up without thinking.

I’m starting to hate people. I may end up that guy living on a couple hundred acres in the middle of nowhere with “no tresspassing” signs and a thoroughly locked gate.

    The pamphlet is real, apparently.

The alliteration by Wonkette, however, is false. It’s out of context with added information.

She apparently doesn’t give a rat’s ass about accuracy, just being “right” and will alter anything to ensure that she “wins”.

Between her and the vultures diving down with long knives on Gerald Ford before the body’s even cold…

The comments at the Daily Kos Crazy are comical. Racism and Nazism. That didn’t take long.

Typical tempest-in-a-teapot. The Left is always looking to smear the NRA, especially now since they think the NRA is the only obstacle to the Democrats enacting more gun control.

The images are a bit over-the-top, but not any more over-the-top than what I’ve seen the past few years in lefty gun control publications.

I love it when the Left publicly bashes the NRA, because it usually results in increased NRA membership.

It’s definitely not as bad in context, but the NRA needs to be careful with this kind of shit. Last I checked, gangs and illegal immigration had nothing to do with gun rights.

    Captain Holly,

The NRA is not the only obstacle to more gun control. I’m a member of the NRA AND Gunowners of America. GOA’s frequent e-mailings with postcards for our specific Representatives and Senators are better for political action in my opinion. All NRA members should join GOA or some other pro-gun rights organization and, Tennessee Firearms Assocation, which works for our Article I, Section 26 RIGHT of armed self-defense in the Tennessee State Legislature.

    Sebastian,

You’re right. Gangs and illegal immigrants have nothing to do with gun rights, except when they commit violent crimes, the ruling elites use that as an excuse to say we need more gun control. The worst criminals are those ruling elites who allow illegal aliens to invade (from which we get even more criminal gangs like MS-13) and then they restrict, deny and disarm citizens to make for more unarmed victims.

“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie
the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not
become the legalized version of the first.”–Thomas Jefferson

You’re correct. But the NRA is the biggest and best known, and as a result it attracts all the fire from the gun controllers. To them, the NRA is the “gun lobby” and they believe if they can sufficiently discredit the NRA, they can eliminate any opposition.

Of course, we both know that the NRA only represents a small percentage of gun owners, and voting for gun control is about the stupidest thing the Democrats could do right now. But I don’t mind letting the antis waste their energy, because I’m pretty sure that if Pelosi tries to bring up the Assault Weapons ban for a vote it will guarantee the Republicans will win the House back in 2008.

More importantly, most of those 40-odd “Blue Dog” Democrats know that, too.

Some (many) of those illustrations are straight out of the latest issue of “America’s First Freedom”. What that may mean, I know not.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
