You can get an adaptor for that, but I'd bet a new DVD player (with coax output) would actually be cheaper.

Yeah, that's why I plan on doing it in increments. The new living room first. Other stuff later.

Found it the other day one of our DVD players cannot be plugged in to one of our TeeVees. The DVD has the S-Vid or three cable deal. Older TeeVee in Jr.'s room only takes coax.

It's funny about how priorities are different for different people. When my wife first moved in with me (about two years before we got married), I bought a Magnavox tube TV (30" maybe?), primarily because my old roommate moved out to go get married, and he took his 27" TV with him. That Magnavox is still our primary TV to this day. When I bought a house in 2003, and remodeled the guest bedroom by 2004, I bought an additional TV -- 19", mono, color -- just to have one in there in case we have company. It almost never gets used.

Apart from that TV, the only other audio-video equipment I've purchased in the last ten years has been a 5-disc CD changer (to replace a 15-year-old Sony that was starting to flake out), and a set-top DVD recorder (primarily to replace an 6-year-old player that was starting to flake out).

And that's a big part of the problem. If I shelled out for a nice new "TeeVee," as Uncle calls it, this would have an incredibly expensive cascading effect, as I would have to upgrade virtually every other component in my system. And truth to tell, we almost never watch movies at home anyway. Now if DirecTV starts offering the NHL package in HD, I'm going to be in trouble...

We bought a 51" projection when we moved into our house back in '99. It's still going strong despite two kids trying desperately to kill it...

Except, of course, that when it dies, we're replacing it with the 32" Sony in our bedroom. And when that dies, the 25" Daewoo in the office.

Eventually, we will run out of TVs. And that will suit me just fine...

If you want it dead, just block the vents... it'll die within the week.
