The cinnamon thing might actually be from quitting smoking and not the meds. Cinnamon is a pretty subtle flavor. If you knock the subtlety out all you have is hot, which isn’t that great. Hot+cinnamon, on the other hand, is pretty good.

If I’m drinking mass-produced beer, it’s High Life (from my home town, I might add) or Labatt Blue. The former is what I generally drink around the house, especially if it’s hot and I’ve been doing yardwork. If I’m out and I have a choice, I’m drinking a good medium-bodied ale or a dunkel weiss. Preferably a micro-brew. Sprecher and Lakefront (both also Milwaukee beers) are among my favorite microbrewers. And for regional brews, I’m all about the Leinie’s Red (which they actually have on tap at Autozone Park here in Memphis).

The funny thing about beer is, over time I lose my taste for any one of them. That’s why I like the Stone Brews, I can’t get too much of them around here so it’ll take a while for me to tire of them.

P.S. One time I bought a six pack of the usual and it tasted freakin’ terrible. I popped open another and it was just as bad. I actually returned the six pack and got my money back.

The next day I buy another six pack at a different place. Same thing. Then I remember I was taking a prescription medicine, and realized what had happened.

It’s probably caused by the medication; I quit cold-turkey a about 18 months ago after a heart attack, and my tasting ability didn’t change at all.

I’ve always liked this, on the back of Arrogant Bastard Ale:

“This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory � maybe something with a multi-million dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it’s made in a little brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless fizzy yellow beer will give you more sex appeal.

Perhaps you think multi-million dollar ad campaigns make a beer taste better. Perhaps you are mouthing your words as you read this.”

I’m not a beer snob either but sometimes it does seem that ass is an ingredient of popular beers. It’s probably a famous style of beer and we’re all cretins for not enjoying “Asslager”. Of course a popular south of the border brew smells like skunks and is probably a “Pisslager” – I take mine with a lime.

The beer commercials for that brand are unbelievable. If you went to a party and that is the only beer available would you drink it? I am not a beer snob but that is a shitty beer.
