Wiki-Haslam

It wasn’t me but whoever edited Bill Haslam’s wikipedia entry, I salute you.

Update: Gone now. That was fast. But here’s the old one.

It won’t last long. In fact, it shouldn’t last long. There’s a way to put things across in an encyclopedia and no matter how true, “liberal big city mayors” ain’t it.

  2. SayUncle Says:

I concur, generally. But I still think it’s funny.

  3. Bitter Says:

I saw that this morning and thought it was pretty funny. I noticed it when I was checking to see how your comments about his activities turn up in a Google search of his name. The good news is that behind the City’s website and the Wikipedia entry, your site and links to it (Glenn) are top results. I hope he Google’s his own name often and sees that joining anti-gun associations isn’t such a great idea even if you do get a free trip or two out of it.

  4. Sailorcurt Says:

Whatever it was, it seems to be gone now. Did you archive it? What was there?

  5. Standard Mischief Says:

Is this the revision you refer to?

If you want to link to Wikipedia, and are somewhat afraid that it will change in the meanwhile, you can always link to a specific version.

    1. Press the history link

    2. Right-click on the date of the revision you want.

    3. Select Copy link location

    4. Paste link wherever.

The change and corrections were made without comment, which is frowned upon in wikipedia culture. I assume now that you have drawn some attention to it, wikipedians will hash out the exact wording in a tiny little edit war. Stay tuned.

Why isn’t “liberal big city mayors” an appropriate encyclopedic description?

Its what they are, isn’t it???

  7. drstrangegun Says:

Yes, but that’s not a neutral POV. It’s an encyclopedia dealing in fact, you’ve got to use terminology and phraseology that carries with it no emotional connotation.

    Just the facts, Ma’am.

  8. countertop Says:

And again, I ask, why is liberal big city mayor not appropriate.

Is it not a fact that all three are liberal?

and, with the exception of Menino (who only wishes he was), big city mayors???

Hence, the term liberal big city mayor is entirely appropriate.

  9. Dr. Strangegun Says:

I am, indeed, a cracker. Were there a Wiki entry on me, would it not be appropriate to call me a cracker, since it is true?

“Liberal big city mayor” was used with a pejorative tone. That is the issue. It’s true, yes. But just because something is 100% factual doesnt’ mean it can’t be painted with a slew. It’s not so much the color of the paint but the direction of the brush strokes.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
