It's a lovely rifle :) Basically they reengineered the SKS reciever to take AK magazines, and assembled it without a bayonet lug, etc. so as to satisfy the import points system. They're still out there, and the quality was actually surprising given my previous experiences with Norinco (a m.213, with punched lettering that looked like a 3'rd grader did it.
