My problem: I like beer. If I go out, I'm likely to be where carrying is prohibited. In the house, I'm likely to have a beer. Alcohol and guns do not mix, not even here in the South...

I just take my holster off completely, leaving the firearm in it and still loaded... only time it comes out of the holster is at the range.

I never disarm in my house, for the reasons she talks about. I don't even honestly notice it anymore, so I don't find being armed the least bit uncomfortable or even remotely burdensome. I've always remembered to disarm before going over to New Jersey, but I'm worried one of these days I'll set out on an errand and just forget. It wasn't always like that though.

When I first started carrying, I did it more sporadically, because it was uncomfortable, both from a bodily comfort point of view, and because I thought everyone could see I was carrying a gun. But I don't think people really pay attention. Case in point, I was hiking with coworkers the other week and none of them noticed a guy in the party ahead of us on the trail was open carrying a loaded 45. I noticed, didn't think anything of it. Curious to see if my coworkers had noticed, after we passed the party, I asked. They had not, and were rather horrified. Probably would have been more horrified to find I was concealing a Glock myself. If people aren't even noticing a 45 carried openly in the 4 o'clock position when you're right behind a guy, they probably aren't noticing any buldges on you.

I say carry everywhere you legally can, and in the home. Once you get used to it, you won't even notice, and it's just easier that way.
