If the 2nd Amendment sentence is read according to the basic rules of English grammar, "militia" in the first subordinate or dependent clause must agree with "the people" in the main or independent clause. That is, "the militia" is "the people" who have the right to keep and bear (carry) arms.

So those who say that "a well-regulated miltia being necessary to secuirty of a free state" somehow restricts or negates, "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" are obviously ignorant of the basic concepts of English grammar and sentence structure AND of the historical meaning of those words.

"Do not separate text from historical background. If you do, you will have
perverted and subverted the Constitution, which can only end in a distorted,
bastardized form of illegitimate government.''
-James Madison (the man who worded the Constitution)

(The Constitution preserves) the advantage of being armed which Americans
possess over the people of almost every other nation...(where) the governments
are afraid to trust the people with arms." --James Madison.

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we
shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress shall have no power
to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the
soldier, are the birth-right of an American ... The unlimited power of the
sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but where
I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People." Tench Coxe
(1788)

"Arms in the hands of the citizens may be used at individual discretion for
the defense of the country, the overthrow of tyranny or private self-defense." --John Adams

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be
properly armed." --Alexander Hamilton

"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people To disarm the people
is the best and most effective way to enslave them." -George Mason

"The Militia is composed of free Citizens. There is therefore no danger of
their making use of their power to the destruction of their own Rights, or
suffering others to invade them." --Samuel Adams

This is also in accordance with the Preamble to the Bill of Rights in which they are specified as "restrictive and declaratory clauses". That is, to declare the RIGHTS of the people and RESTRICT the "delegated powers" of the government.

I have only one point to make.

If "the people" in the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 9th amendments to the constitution are me and you then "the people" in the second must be as well.
