More Bloomberg
Bloomberg has launched a new anti-gun legislative initiative. One part of it bans something that sounds made up:
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, joined by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and City Council Public Safety Chair Peter F. Vallone, Jr., today announced the introduction of four pieces of legislation intended to combat gun violence. The legislation includes: the Gun Offender Registration Act for individuals convicted of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree; a one handgun every-three-month purchase limit; an Inventory bill, which would require city gun dealers to physically examine their inventories twice a year; and a ban on gun coloration kits used to disguise real guns in ‘toy-like’ colors.
They make those?

Does that include pink Krylon? Seriously, has anyone ever used one of those bARbie-15 pink ARs in a crime? That’s really going to go over well with some gangsta’s tough-guy/thug image.

Nice how one-gun-a-month becomes one gun every three. I guess the end-game for that (short of total prohibition) is one gun per lifetime. Oh, and banning paint is sure to cut down on crime.

Let me get this straight. If the guns are black, like an AR-15, Thay are evil looking and should be banned. If the guns are pretty colors, they look like toys and should be banned. My head is spinning.

He really, really needs to get his head out of his ass

Maybe he’s only allowed to remove his head from his ass every three months.

It is quite simple, childern with toy guns have been shot by the police (if you ever worked in the low rent section of the inner city where anything is possible, it is a reasonable and unfortunate occurrence), so a law was past that stated toy guns where to be made of these bright colors. Joke as you may but it is all about protecting children and nothing more.

Ken, that makes no sense. Seems to prevent that, you paint toy guns not real ones. I have yet to find one of these supposed coloration kits and I’ve been looking.

[…] Bloomberg’s push to ban gun coloration kits is, well, stupid. But I didn’t really know what he meant. Dave the hyphenated American has some examples. He notes: So now not only are black rifles like the AR-15 “evil” in the gun-grabbers’ eyes, but now guns of color are too. So far, no-one seems to have noticed that most SKS and AK-47 types come in wooden stocks. I guess it is only a matter of time that wood is “evil” too […]
