Class of ‘78… By 1989 I had gone through 8 years of Uncle Sam’s Army and 3 years of private sector.

It started to hit me when my neice turned 18. I was a sophomore in high school when she was born. Also, when songs you remember loving on the radio are played by Casey Casem, and he says "that was #1 20 years ago this week," it kind of stings. On a side note, several years ago I went to my 10-year reunion, and it reminded me that the vast majority of my friends in high school were either a year ahead of me or a year behind. And there was one girl (now woman, I guess) who was still bitter at me, ten years after the fact, that I was good at taking tests and didn't have to study as much as she did...

Class of ‘86. I remember realizing I was too old to be on MTV’s “The Real World.” There was an age cutoff of 25.

I was class of ‘88 (should have been ‘89 tho’). Had a friend who got pregnant over Thanksgiving break our freshman year. A mutual friend of ours that I still keep in touch with her from her – her daughter has her license…

Of course, my wife’s cousin, who is all of two months older than us, has a son who is about to graduate from high school and is going into the Marines.

His reasoning? He wants to, and I quote, “get the hell out of Wisconsin”…

The defining moment for me was when my cousin, who’s only a couple years older than me but had a kid in her teens, became a grandmother. Ouch. It was kind of cool, though, that my grandmother was a great-great-grandmother for the last few years of her life.

I’m finding now when I read the Sunday paper and look at engagements, there for a long time, every single Sunday, I would see somebody I knew from school, church, whatever. NOW, (I also graduated in 87) I’m seeing kids who I babysat for or lived in the neighborhood, went to the same church, etc. that I remember when their mothers were pregnant with them!

90 for me. Ran into an ex that graduated in 88 at a hockey game about two months ago. She got knocked up right after her graduation and her daughter(also present) is a knockout.

And here I was feeling young and sprightly. I graduated high school in ‘87. After reading this, now I just feel old. Waaah!
