Me and my family have always had two dogs. Parents, brothers, sister - all a pair of mutts that always got along. Even with the cat. Being mutts and not pure-breds, I'm sure there were personality "softening" effects. They would "wrestle" and make a lot of noise - jumping in the air and chasing each other. Sometimes a growl over food but that would get them both smacked. I'm sure it was pretty traumatic to have to figure out who was hurt, why, and get help. I'm sorry you had to go through that. Hmmm.
