"...assemble a nationwide coalition of mayors to-- mobilize the support of law enforcement..."

They have to for the mayors first because mayors hold sway over the police chiefs. If they started from the rank and file LEOs, they'd get the opposite result from the one desired - most cops understand the benefits of an armed populace.

This shows the importance of local elections; crappy mayors = corrupt police chiefs = more infringements on the 2A = higher crime.

I guess the comparable schtick for pistol makers would be the current light rail craze. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Or would it be encouraging PDs to have their officers actually shoot enough practice rounds to actually be competent, thus wearing out their guns a lot faster than if they just rode around in holsters for 25+ years?

What, you mean they're going to expose the hunting rifle manufacturers' little habit of continuously coming out with new calibers to do the same job the old ones are doing just fine?

Go for it. Not that us gunnies haven't already figured that one out.

Gun industry watch... they'll either make something up (and shoot themselves in the foot with a nice fat lawsuit against them) or they'll have squat to report on.
