I don’t think there’s anything fishy about making out a check direct to you. No different from using PayPal, IMHO. No different from sending a check to Gary Marbut for Angel Shamaya. Shoot me an e-mail with your postal address.

Ditto 308Mike on contacting JPFO. They’re waaaaay into the ATF abuse thing these days. As for a lawyer, I’m sure you know this, but don’t forget to contact SAF and GAO.

I’d say ask his lawyer, once he figures out who the main one is gonna be. Perhaps he’s willing to accept funds. Checks have a paper trail, and his lawyer is obligated to act in his behalf so you ought to be able to do something like:

Shoot-n-Skoot legal defense fund
c/o His Lawyers Name Here
30.06 jackboot way
Where-ever TN,

Ask the people to make out the check to his lawyer, and let his lawyer deposit them in his name.

Well, until you can get something more formal organized, see if you can enlist the assistance of a local businessman who would be willing to cash & collect the money for turning over to you or Scoot.

Otherwise, see if you can get some assistance setting up a legal defense fund with help from the NRA, SAF, JPFO or other organization to make it legal and doesn’t negatively impact anyone’s tax liability.

What about setting it up through the Community Foundation? Not sure what their requirements are, but employing a third party might be your safest, most anonymous bet.
