What makes me shake my head is that if a law is passed prohibiting the removal (or coverup) of the orange paint, I don’t see how that will make any difference. What’s to stop criminals from painting the orange tip onto a real firearm? If I’m a cop and someone points a gun-like object at me, I’m going to shoot. I don’t want my last words to be “But it was painted orange…”

All the legislation of the past 225 years did nothing to stop this. Only the ignorant would think that more laws are needed.
This is what happens when we have divorced ourselves from the very concept of principles; Legislation every day, based on the news headlines of that day.
Your kid crashes his bike? Pass another bike law. Someone stabs someone, pass another knife law. Someone insults oyu, pass another hate crime law.
Hey, I know, lets make it illegal to be ignorant.

Wonder why they didn’t toss in a tear-gas grenade, wait him out, get the word his parents were trying to put out that it was a pellet gun, trade his weapon for a pizza and some diet coke….you know…use INTEL and TOOLS? Once you have them backed up in a bathroom, is the clock ticking quite as fast?

Just wondering. Hard to shed tears over a teenager who pulls a stunt like this…but…don’t the police ever just….out-tactic, out-smart, or out-manouever an idiot instead of shooting them?

Sounds like they didn’t shoot center mass if they are harvesting organs after the kids brain went flat. Sounds like a headshot…excuse me…a double-tap. This kid might have grown up to be a compassionate and articulate Democratic Senator who played the cello for poor folks and was beloved by cats, fuzzy bunnies and the AFL-CIO. Now….his organs are being passed out like party favors.

Oh well.

I thought he painted over the orange paint, not removed it.

Guy was suicidal, and got what he wanted. His problem. Why do the Nannyists want to make it mine?

This is good legislation. I had thought that this was self-policed by Darwinism, but I guess the next time someone uses a toy gun that they altered to look like a real gun, they can arrest him after he’s been shot and killed.

Pellet guns are most definitely not toys.

Millions of squirrels, rats, small birds, cats, little brothers, little sisters & window panes would all testify to the fact that pellet guns are not toys.

Wait a minute. He had to use a toy gun? I thought that the schools were awash with illegal handguns and that we needed more and more regulation to prevent handguns from falling into the hands of kids. This makes no sense. I need to call the Brady bunch.
