I know this is an old post and nobody is really keeping up with or reading it, but...

I have big hopes for BG...

I saw the "preview scenes" for the next show on SciFi....

Who is actually pointing the gun at Adm. Cane? Look close when they show the secene.

I'm betting it's not the blonde that everyone is thinking it is....

What you say is true SayUncle, however, it seems that most SciFi TV shows targeted at an adult audience start out being fairly good but soon go all comic booky (for lack of a better description) and soon fail.

Good SciFi TV shows for an adult audience are so few and far between I really hope it doesn't happen to BG.

Being consistent within their universe is the very basis for Science Fiction as opposed to Fantasy where things are solved using FM (sexual term Magic).

Read some of the questions and answers on www.scifi.com with Ron More--the executive producer/writer of BG. Others have pointed out the same "tech" issues.

I'd rather the writers actually work to solve any problems within the technology they created for their universe rather than pull out the magic wand and solve the problem with FM like they did so many times in Star Trek:TNG and newer.

Scientifically accurate isn't a requirement for SciFi, but consistentancy (with their own tech) should be.

All that being said, I still think it's a damn good show with only some minor quibbles with their "creative liscense" usage in their tech.

It's been good so far.

They need to get their technology straightened out a bit.

No FTL communications but the toasters can download when dead to a new body that is several light years away?

BG doesn't have networked computers because the toasters can access them wirelessly when they are networked?

Are the human toasters part machine or all organic? If they have mechanical parts, why can't they be detected? If all organic how can one connect to a fiber optic line?

Mostly only minor quibbles there... it's their universe, they can do what they want. But sometimes their tech pulls me out of the show and makes me go "Hmmmmmm WTF was that?"

The drama side of the house has been pretty well spot on. Sometimes they'll nail a line so well it'll just about jerk a tear to the eye of this 21 year USAF vet.

And folks, this show is drama at it's finest with very few FUBARs when it comes to characters and their interactions.

The first series was a kids show... light hearted and filled with comedic relief--the new series is all grown up and is made for grown-ups.

I didn't think I'd like the new BG after watching the mini-series, but the series has proven to be well worth watching.

The problem I have is that, after the original 4-hour pilot, I haven't watched the show. Now I'd have to spend 10 or 15 hours watching just to get caught up.

Also, from what I've seen of it, the show is incredibly dark, and I generally like my entertainment more escapist than that.

Last night's episode was the continuation of season 2. The DVD for sale, aka season 2.0
is just the first 10 episodes of a 20 episode second season. A lot of people were pissed at SciFi for splitting the season like that but I can't blame them. It's an expensive show to produce, and they are committed to doing it right. Releasing season 2.0 allows them to cash in on the Christmas shopping season and generate cash for 2006 production. As long as new episodes keep coming out, I'll support them. BG is indeed the best thing ever made for television. Go back and watch the miniseries if you haven't yet.

Uncle, set your TiVo to record The Shield on FX tonight. It's a great show, and they're playing four episodes on Saturday nights, so it's easy to catch up. The Blockbuster in Maryville has the first two seasons on DVD, too.
