After reading this article by Ms. Price in the Salt Lake Tribune, among other things I wondered, why did the elderly woman kill her daughter and Ms. Price’s brother? Was it because they wanted her to move out of their apartment?
It doesn’t seem logical for an elderly woman to kill anyone unless she had a good reason.
Does anyone know the details of the murder? Did the elderly woman kill them in self defense?
Is she now spending time in prison for the crime?
I find it interesting that she would state that incident as the main cause for her position and yet not give any details of the situation. Of course that would be typical of the anti-gun people.

So of the hundreds of millions of guns out there, only 12k are used to kill people. That means that the other 99.9% must just be paperweights.

People, people, people…let’s not forget she’s also writing from a position of pain. She, like Sarah Brady, is IMHO, having a natural (and knee-jerk) reaction to having a loved one shot. Her reaction is completely natural for someone who has undergone a traumatic event and is lashing out emotionally. And let’s not forget, emotions and rational thinking, the go together like oil and water. One of the best ways to see this is that she throws figures out to try to drive her point home, yet fails to provide references for those stats. When I see that, two things come to minds:

1. Figures lie and liars figure.

2. 78% of all statistics are made up on the spot (like this one).

My favorite part of that article.

These guns are designed to kill people: That’s their sole purpose.

Lets try this, These kitchen knives are designed to cut meat. That’s their sole purpose.

So what happens when a little grandmother uses a kitchen knife to stop an attacker? Should we then regulate (ban) all kitchen knives?

What would Jenny Price say if the killer had used a kitchen knife? She would say there are other purposes for kitchen knives and that it was the actions of the killer that were the cause of the deaths.

I don’t have to rely on a kitchen knife to defend my home. I have a gun. I am fortunate enough to live in a community where that is still legal.

God help us from the Utopian fantasies and actions of those that would surrender our most basic rights.

I suppose the disconnect is that she only considers guns used to kill other people in self-defense, not guns used for self-defense.

Remember, in her mind the only legitimate purpose for guns is to kill people, and the possibility that a gun might be used to wound an attacker, or simply avoid an attack, simply cannot be formed in her head.
