I used to hit a bunch of lefty blogs; I gave up for the same reasons you give. This evening I went to Unclaimed Territory, and ran across this:”Whenever the Bush Administration wants to ramp up its fear-mongering in order to scare people into complying with its agenda, it always turns to its buzzing ace in the hole � the radiological bomb.”

Never mind that the Adminstration didn’t bring this up: the idiots who leaked the information did. Ignore EVERYTHING except ‘Bush is turning into/ALREADY IS HITLER!’. When the start of posts tends to be like this, it makes it not seem worth it to dig through.

I don’t know from blogs, but the gun boards during the Clinton years were nothing but “Komrade Klintoon” this and “Hitlery Klintoon” that and “Al Bore” the other.

One would find one’s self patiently explaining to people that Clinton couldn’t possibly have arranged the sinking of the Lusitania, since it happened some years before he was born…

I suspect the reverse would be true if the Democrats ran Congress and the Executive (ie: rightwing blogs would reflect a lot more frustration and vitriol).

I think another contributor to this perception is that the blogs we read on our own side tend to feature the worst from the other side rather than the best.

And I also believe that leftism is less logical. Collectivist leftism is what you get if you’re trying to prove you care but don’t consider how the remedies for social ills that you’re advocating have worked in the past.

I think its advice the Democratic Party – and their crazed liberal supporters – could use. As you correctly point out, they often times have ideas worthy of further consideration (and heck, sometimes they are ~~right~~ correct too) but their worthwhile ideas are mostly lost at the front door of anger bitter crazed hostility.

If they’re referring to the money Judas received for betraying Jesus, it was 30 pieces of silver, not 22.

I’m with Chris..its easier to swallow the idiocy if you believe in what they write which is why your bias is to believe that there is more idiocy on the left and my own take is that there is more idiocy on the right. I personally find Instapundit difficult to read because I think Glenn Reynolds is something of an idiot and find Kos a little easier to stomach (though will agree that there is a good deal of idiocy on that site too).

I can’t stand to read the local left leaning blogs or, for that matter, any other lefty blogs.

However, I do like to read Democratic Underground from time to time, particularly when they start eating their young (e.g. Kucinich should run against Hillary because she has sold out to Bush, Cheney, Halliburton, Scooter Libby, etc.). I thank God that none of them have guns and that we all do. In spite of all of their conspiracy theories and ranting, if the shooting ever starts, they will be on the sidelines smoking dope and singing Kumbaya.

My gut reaction to the tendency to think that there’s more on the right/left is that if you are reading a site that is closer to your political beliefs, you give idiocy a pass more often, because you might agree with what they’re saying (if not exactly their logic in getting there), or you just think it’s funny.

Call me crazy, but this post sounds like justification for why you shouldn’t read blogs by idiots, not blogs by righties/lefties.
