I have just one question too, but it's a different one:

http://blog.joehuffman.org/2004/12/15/Just+One+Question.aspx

I've been asking it for years now. No answer. It tends to reduce the length of time I spend in gun control debates.

I was discussing cross-state CCW laws at lunch today and one of my co-workers opined that there are no "middle-of-the-road" attitudes on gun control. He said there is either "any gun I want" or "no guns at all".

Setting aside the generalization, I gave it some thought.
I would theorize that we "any gun I want" types have that attitude after having several decades of being taken advantage of by the anti-gun types. For example, most people would agree that a back-ground check is a good _idea_ for a society to use when selling firearms. However, those "checks" have been abused into "registration" and "confiscation". Hence, "anti-gun" people have proven that if "pro gun" allows even a small amount of lattitude, "anti-gun" will abuse that position and work to remove all guns.

So there isn't room for compromise anymore. We have been forced into our position because we have been lied to, cheated, and stolen from by people using less-than-honest means. Fool me once, shame on me. Fuck me twice, expect payback. -- or something like that.
