There is plenty of blame to go around and hopfully it will stick to those that deserve it from their personal failures during this disaster. But there are those who deserve recognition for their selfless sacrifices and service to aide in saving lives.

- New Orleans didn't follow their own evacuation plans

- Red Cross not allowed into the city (by LA HL security orders from the Governor's office) after the storm with food and water for the people at the dome and other locations.

- FEMA appears, to outsiders, to operating in a large state of confussion and thus non-action.

We must all learn that we have no rights to protection or first responder rights from any government agency. We all must be prepared to help ourselves in a time of crisis.

Yer spot-on about the failures on nearly every level. But I keep learning about just what happened and when. Such as the feds being given total authority over evacuation and relocation on Aug. 26 after the Gov. got Bush to declare a "federal state of emergency." More can be found here: http://southernstudies.org/facingsouth/2005/09/katrina-timeline-belies-white-house.asp

Thanks, Uncle and keep up the good work.

The FedGov was very quick to respond to last year's hurricanes in Florida. FEMA got high marks all around for their response.

I don't thinkt he FedGov has ever been quick to respond.
That's kinda the nature of the beast.

Personal - Local - State - Federal

The more I read, the more it looks like the Governor is at fault. She's still blocking aid.
