He angrily denied reports that there was no food or that there was unrest, saying [paraphrased] that "I'm not in a position to argue with you about this, but my reports aren't consistent with what your reporter is saying. We have plenty of food and supplies." They then went live to a reporter in New Orleans who verified that the no food / chaos / dead bodies scenario was, indeed, the situation at the convention center. While he was talking, a Cherthoff staffer apparently called in doing damage control, saying that Cherthoff had now been "briefed" as to the actual situation there, and that they were looking at ways to "do something." (Paraphrased.) Can someone please put the grown-ups in charge?
