So, uhm

Have you noticed that gas prices are up? I thought we went to war for cheap oil. We’re getting screwed.

    Have I noticed? Boy, have I ever…

I was out of the country for two weeks, and when I got back I was shocked by the highest gas prices I’ve seen. This is having on effect on everything; my brand of cereal shot up to FIVE DOLLARS a box!

At this rate, commentators will soon have to start using that dread “i” word again.

(I guess it’s been so long that I should point out that the word is “INFLATION.”)

Well, yeah, we went to war for cheap oil. Unfortunately, that went about as well as the whole “they’ll greet us with flowers” thing. 🙂

  3. tgirsch Says:

Oh, and I should point out that while in Canada, gas was 99.9¢ (CAD) per liter. That translates to about US $3.06 per gallon.

  4. Brutal Hugger Says:

There was a great New Yorker cartoon a couple months ago. It showed a guy filling up his car. He says to his wife, “Now don’t you wish it _really_was_ about the oil?”

The Saudis only promised to keep oil prices down until the 2004 election was over. My contention has always been that we weren’t going to war for oil, but for oil field services.

Give Bush more time. He’s only finished phase 1 of his sooper seekrit 01L plan.

I can’t believe anyone with a full complement of chromosomes finds scrappleface funny. Belch-talking is three times as funny, and you don’t need to be on the Internet.

Try belch-talking “Saudi Arabia”. It’s way more fun than reading that crap.

Scrappleface is quite funny, some times.

It’s less about the price of crude oil than about refining capacity. Thanks to the tree-huggers, no new refineries have been built in the USA for something like 30 years. So gasoline is in tight supply during the summer (when consumptions is up due to travel, auto airconditioners, and lawn mowers), regardless of the oil supply.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
