Actually, the “shooting first and asking questions later” thing about which you complained was the punchline. It’s just that because it’s a hot-button issue, you didn’t find it funny. And the Swift Boat stuff was littered with punchlines; it’s just that most of them were provided by SBVT themselves.

By the way, I’m still not sure why it’s hypocritical for the Daily Show (not a news organization) to be critical of news organizations for not checking facts. That would be like calling you hypocritical for criticizing Erik Ainge’s QBing technique, when you yourself aren’t working to improve your QBing technique.

I concur they pick on everyone but it seems they really have to make shit up in some case. And, other than the speedo, i don’t recall a punchline. Just like with the SBVs. So, it’s not random.

OK, consider the accusation retracted, and I’ll submit this revised statement: TDS skews things like this all the time; it’s just that it only sometimes (seemingly randomly) gets your panties in a twist.

Of course, in a previous post I explained why I don’t think TDS is particularly uneven in how it skews things. It’s pretty much always been an equal opportunity offender, and is as likely to ridicule a program/policy I like as one I don’t like.

No, just this one did. The only others involving guns that I recall I thought were funny and not particularly noteworthy.

However, other TDS things I’ve taken issue(treatment of Kerry, Gillespie, swift boat vets, Crossfire) did not involve guns. In fact, here they all are. I await your retraction.

I don’t know that you can pin all that on Stewart. Sounds a lot like Liz Winnstead’s influence to me.

But the TDS skews things like this all the time. It just so happens that it’s only when it involves guns that it gets your panties in a twist.
