       It&#039;s still a .50 caliber. Most gun laws &amp; more practical discussions of guns refer to the bore diameter of the barrel rather than the projectile diameter (more specifically the land diameter, not the groove diameter). Hence the .510 bullets used in the .50 BMG &amp; the  .510 DTC.

Then again naming conventions for firearms have never had to follow any sort of standard, so you could get away with calling your Cali ban resistant creation the .55 Yo&#039; Uncle Done Said even if it&#039;s a .50 :)</description>
