He was also in Three Amigos. He might be dumb as a bolt, and not very funny anymore, but to say he wasn't ever funny just isn't the case.

C’mon. Chevy hasn’t been funny for a long time but he used to be funny. Some of the SNL stuff is classic. The first “Vacation” was hilarious and “Caddyshack” is one of the funniest movies of all time.

I don’t have to agree with someone to think they are funny.
