I have been a hunter since I was 12 years old, I recieved my patch from a hunters safty course a long time ago. I was taught never fight with words in anger or when you have a weapon close to you. Things get heated. Everybody is human. Some people are just crazy. You never know! It’s good to walk away. I was in the Marines and then attended MATC for a associates degree in Police Science. I have worked in the security and law inforcement field for a long time and seen a lot of bad things. This shooting in Hayward county should never have happened. It did, I think because, one party got racial and dumb. The other party was just dumb. You don’t point guns to scare people or even in fun. This can lead towards a bad confrontation. Nore should the shooter have hunted these people down and killed them. I think the shooter might have been showing them, “I’m trained in the art of killing buy the U.S. militay”, and proved it. Which was wrong. When the smoke cleared he survived but 6 people are dead. There is a point here but it’s just to dam costly.

Umm, that’s what I said. I also said that if what you say is true, that the AWB didn’t actually ban assault weapons, then the fact that the AWB failed to cover an SKS doesn’t necessarily mean that the SKS is not, in fact, an assault weapon. It may not be, but I’m just sayin’…

This is why I don’t use the terms “assault rifle” and “assault weapon” interchangeably.

An “assault rifle” is, always and everywhere, a selective-fire rifle chambered for an intermediate cartridge.

An “assault weapon” is whatever the governing jurisdiction says it is at the moment.

The SKS is most decidedly NOT an assault rifle. However, any legislative body can pass a law at any time that says it IS an “assault weapon.” This is why we need to be clear, and not use the term “assault weapon” except to identify it for the fear-mongering label that it is.

Not really. An SKS typically does not have a detachable magazine, but a fixed one. As such, the AWB would not cover it.

Well, as you constantly used to rant about, the assault weapons ban didn’t actually ban assault weapons. So it’s entirely possible for an SKS to be an assault weapon without being covered by the AWB.
