Careful out there
Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies are looking for at least four, possibly five men today, who barged their way into a couple’s home in south-east Shelby County.
The couple was severely beaten. The couple told Sheriff’s Deputies they awakened about 4:30 this morning when several men banged at the back door at their home, which is located in the 9400 block of Plantation Lake Road near Collierville. The men wore ski masks and black shirts that said “POLICE.” All of the men, armed with pistols, were yelling, “Police! F.B.I.! Open Up!” As the couple answered the door, the men barged their way inside the house demanding money.
They forced the lady to take them through the house ransacking various rooms. Not finding any money, the men beat the woman and her husband with their pistols and a cue stick from a pool table. The couple was then taken to a bathroom where their feet were bound with duct tape.

I guess the way you can tell they’re not cops is that the actually waited for somebody to answer the door.

yeah, wtf are you supposed to do in a situation like that? I’d be inclined to start shooting the bastards, but what if they really are police? Thibodeaux is right, police dressed like that wouldn’t wait for you to open the door.
but then what do you do if *they* don’t wait for you to open the door either? How can you tell? Are you justified in blasting intruders in your house as long as you know that you’ve done nothing wrong even if there is some possibility they might be police????

In North Carolina, it is legal to use deadly force to stop someone who is breaking into your house and who you have a reasonable suspicion is going to commit a felony. However, I can’t think of a better way to commit “suicide by cop” than to blast them as they come into your house to serve a “no-knock” warrant.

This is why there should be NO/NONE/NADA no-knock warrants issued ever! The history of no-knock warrants is littered with stupidity, laziness, rambo-complex-neanderthals and criminality. The death toll from this nonsense is much too high on the wrong/innocent side. Until the requirement is to be a castrato to execute such a warrant I’ll stay in favor of banning this BS.
