Bush has always championed the Second Amendment generally, while carving out an exception for guns that look mean. It may not be a great position to take, but he has been consistent on it. Plus, given the political realities, Second Amendment purity is not an option right now. Our choice is between one guy who supports 95% of the Second Amendment and won't lift a finger to crush the other 5%, and another who will twist arms to crush that 5% and as much of the remaining 95% as he can reach. I don't know about you, but I'd rather spend the next four years fighting over 5% of the Second Amendment than 100% of it. No, it’s not.
