We pick one Democrat Governor and they think they’re on to something
Tom Humphrey, who we now see why he’s not blogging, writes in the KNS:
Al Gore said Tuesday that President Bush’s “saturation television advertising” in East Tennessee indicates Republicans fear that John Kerry can win the state he lost in 2000.
Speaking to Tennessee delegates a day after addressing the Democratic National Convention, Gore contended that the GOP fears were justified though most polls show Bush with a solid lead in his home state.
Sorry Al, you’re dreaming. Tennessee was Gore’s to lose and he did. Tennessee, however, is also Bush’s to lose but Kerry isn’t the guy that’s gonna do it for us genteel Southerners.

kerry might do well in the memphis area, but the rest of shelby county is bush country from what i can tell.
though i imagine that a lot of adverting is just getting a jump on kerry. And also getting people out to vote.

And I can’t imagine East Tennessee going for Kerry, even though the city of Knoxville can lean liberal at times. The rest of the county and surrounding counties, though….

I knew in 2000 that Gore was going to lose when I went to the wedding of the daughter of a prominent Democrat judge and neither he nor any of his Democrat friends had anything nice to say about Gore. Granted, they didn’t care for Bush, but they were adamant in their refusal to help out Gore.
Suffice it to say, I don’t think Kerry stands a better chance of winning their election day support

I ought to add that said wedding was in Chattanooga.

Democrats have recently had trouble doing well in rural areas. For some strange reasons, they can only carry areas where people live. 😉

I vaguely recall a poll saying that Tennessee was a dead heat since Edwards was added to the ticket.
